Diplomats without Borders released a communique about their collaborative efforts and agreements with CARICOM: Caribbean Community on the 2nd of September. The DWB Board has warmly welcomed this initiative by their LAC Group - including Edward Greene, Jorge Heine, Gail Mathurin, Riyad Insanally and Roberta Clarke - and members look forward to working together.
From the statement:
"DWB, through the LAC Group, has recently come to an agreement with CARICOM Secretary General Dr Carla Barnett to enhance collaboration, commencing with an engagement in the form of a Breakfast Meeting with Ministers of Foreign ARairs of CARICOM's Council on Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR), in the margins of the UN General Assembly on September 27, 2024. The aim is to pursue a programme of constructive engagement, including training of CARICOM diplomats, and supporting peace and conflict resolution initiatives relating to Haiti and the Guyana-Venezuela border controversy. The discussions will also focus on hosting symposia with special reference to CARICOM's priorities in the area of diplomacy, multilateralism and conflict resolution, among others, which would include collaboration with regional international relations/foreign policy institutions and resources, from the public sector, academia and civil society. Specific issues for which there is expertise in DWB (LAC Group) are climate diplomacy, digital diplomacy, including AI, and active nonalignment as a critical dimension of foreign policies in the evolving world order. The latter is the subject of a new book by Jorge Heine to be presented to CARICOM Foreign Ministers."
