Diplomats without Borders congratulates Judge Pillay with the 2026 Nobel Peace Price

Diplomats without Borders wishes to congratulate judge Navanethem (Navi) Pillay on her award of the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, which was awarded in recognition of her efforts to promote peace and international law.
The decision by the Nobel Committee is a solid statement in support of the system of international law and against the shift towards power politics which is currently ongoing.
As the chair of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, Jørgen Watne Frydnes observed, Judge Pillay has with exceptional courage and integrity led the way towards a more comprehensive global legal order. Her commitment to universal legal principles and her firm moral compass are constants in a long career during which she has been instrumental in ensuring that war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide are prosecuted.
Diplomats without Borders fully support the observation by the Nobel Committee chair that the international system is confronted with existential challenges - including more wars and conflicts than the world has seen in a long time - and that international law is no longer just a supplement to peace and security, but an absolute necessity.
Diplomats without Borders remains firmly committed to the promotion of international law, in full recognition that the system of international law is under tremendous pressure and its institutions are under attack. Diplomats without Border is deeply concerned about power politics emerging at the expense of legal frameworks and global respect for law and justice. As the Nobel Committee observed: whenever might overtakes right, it undermines stability, trust and peaceful co-existence.
