As conflicts intensify and peace operations evolve, what's next for civilian protection?

Join us for a critical roundtable discussion examining how Unarmed Civilian Protection (UCP) is shaping the future of peace operations worldwide.

📅 Date: Wednesday, 5 November 2025

🕐 Time: 2:00 - 4:00 PM EST (7:00 - 9:00 PM GMT)

📍 Location: UN Church Center, 777 UN Plaza, New York, NY (11th floor) + Online via Zoom

What We'll Explore:

Civil society-led UCP has been conducted by 20+ organizations in conflict zones including Colombia, DRC, Iraq, Myanmar, Philippines, South Sudan, Sudan, Ukraine, and the West Bank. This session will:

✅ Examine current UCP work in the West Bank—from physically protecting vulnerable communities to monitoring illegal activities and forestalling demolitions

✅ Explore how UCP has been scaled up in mission settings (South Sudan) and non-mission contexts (Mindanao, Philippines)

✅ Discuss how these learnings can inform the proposed International Stabilization Force to meet immense protection needs in the West Bank and Gaza

✅ Contribute to the Review on the Future of Peace Operations by reflecting on UCP's potential in shaping non-traditional UN and non-UN operations

Panel Features: Six experts and practitioners from Palestine and conflict zones worldwide will share insights on implementation, scaling challenges, and the evolving role of UCP in smaller peacekeeping models amid global financial constraints.
