On the 21st of October, 2026, Diplomats Without Borders (DWB) and the Caribbean Policy Consortium (CPC) jointly hosted a collaboration webinar and examined the Caribbean’s climate priorities and negotiating strategy ahead of COP 31 in Antalya, Türkiye.

Throughout the webinar, the speakers emphasized the Caribbean’s disproportionate vulnerability to climate change, highlighting the growing threats posed by rising sea levels, extreme weather events, and the increasingly unavoidable prospect of exceeding the Paris Agreement’s 1.5°C warming threshold.

Discussions focused on the need for stronger international commitments to emissions reductions, increased adaptation financing, and more accessible funding mechanisms to address climate-related loss and damage. Panelists also stressed the importance of reforming international climate finance to account for the unique economic vulnerabilities and debt burdens faced by Caribbean small island developing states. Another central part of the discussion focused on climate justice, community participation, and the importance of incorporating local knowledge into climate policy and implementation.

The webinar underscored the need to move beyond international pledges toward concrete, coordinated action that strengthens Caribbean resilience, advances climate justice, and safeguards the region’s long-term development. The full recording of the webinar is attached to this post.
